Feeling Creative?

What have you been up to over the summer to indulge your creativity? I always wish I could draw, or paint, or some other “art” form, but it never comes out quite like I would like. I wish I could knit. Home design is another passion of mine and I feel that I do alright with that (reading loads of magazines and home design blogs helps!). But art is not limited to something you can put on canvas.

Writing comes easily to me and I do enjoy it. Picture taking is another ballgame (as you can see, it needs work). I always dream of taking photos like those of the girls from Made by Girl, Pure Style Home, and The Pioneer Woman – now these gals can take some seriously great photos. And unlike other things, photography is not just a “practice makes perfect” art form. You really have to know what you are doing.

Well, over the next year I am going to try my best to better my photog skills. “How?” you may ask. 365 Project. This is a site where you upload a new photo each day over the course of a year (365, get it?) as a kind of journal. Whatever you like: your kids, your pets, your home, your vacations, all of the above…

I am also studying up on improving my picture taking skills – The Pioneer Woman has a portion of her blog dedicated to this subject and I finally busted open the user manual for my camera – and it won’t hurt with my deficiency in any form of keep-sake-ing either.

So, that’s it. A year long photo journal. Care to join in the fun? Just go on over to 365 Project, sign up, and upload. Easy as that. No glue gun, picture printing, or calligraphy skills required.

If you would like to see the beginnings of my project please hop on over to OBStoo. It’s a weird little blog that started out as one thing, led to another, and is now the home of my photo journal.

Let us know if you start one so that we can all check it out!
