ElanVeda Sinus Relief
Had not planned to write today as I am having a sick day (did not plan that either) and have felt just horrible all day long. This cold is making my head hurt so bad that I actually feel sick to my stomach. And after battling it off and on for three days now, am entirely fed up.
Our long weekend was fun, how about your’s? But very active, and today I am paying the price. After some Alka-Seltzer Plus, light yoga, a steamy shower, a cup of ginger tea, a heavy dose of Neti Pot, some chips and salsa (it’s a Monica B tip for sticky, snotty head colds) and even a fourth dose of migraine medicine I was still flat out on the couch. Miserable!
Well, I am not writing this just to be whine-y, but to tell you about this new product I tried…
A couple of weeks ago a company called ElanVeda sent me some of their stuff. They make “health and wellness products founded on Ayurvedic principles” and I just love trying that kind of thing out.
ElanVeda sent out some essential oil blends for me to try. One big difference I noticed with these right away was that they were not very strong. You have to add essential oils to a carrier oil before using, but still most are still pretty strongly scented. Sometimes too strong!
Another difference: they were not the usual scents. By that I mean; most essential oil blends for headache relief smell heavily of lavender, sinus relief like eucalyptus, and so on. These scent combos were different. The Headache Relief has a clean, minty scent. Fresh and straightforward – more what you are in the mood for when you are reeling with a horrible headache.
Ok, here is what I have been leading up to. After all of my desperate measures to feel better I remembered the little vials from ElanVeda and that one was for sinus. I cannot tell you right now what the Sinus Relief blend actually smells like because I am too plugged up to smell anything, but it seems to have worked. I applied the blend to my wrists and sniffed some straight out of the bottle and…slowly the heavy stupor began to lift and I am sitting here at my computer now not feeling nearly as awful. I am still stuffed up (but not as bad) and my headache is all but gone. Impressive.
The ElanVeda website says to add a few drops to boiling water and steam your sinuses. Sounds good. And I am definitely putting a bottle of this on my nightstand tonight before going to sleep!
