Love True Natural -- New Online Organic Beauty Store

If there is one thing I love it's shopping for organic beauty prouducts. Love it!

But what makes shopping for organic beauty products even better are shops that carry nothing but safe products. No muddling through ingredient labels and checking brand commitments.

And another one of these truly green shops has opened up online. It's called Love True Natural and these guys carry nothing but safe products. Brands are Curelle, Benecos, ilike, Lavera, Pai, Sante, True Natural, True Natural Spa, and Weleda.

Lavera and Weleda are two of my favorite organic brands and Pai is also top notch. True Natural makes the innovative new mineral sunscreens that go on absolutely clear and Sante makeup is hard to beat.

ilike is one I have yet to try, but this brand sounds amazing. Super pure and made to mix and match. Can't wait to try the Curelle haircare (not to be confused with Curel body lotion) and Benecos makeup looks amazing.

So hop on over and check Love True Natural out. First time shoppers receive 20% off their order through Dec 31st with coupon code FIRSTORDER at checkout.

It's officially that time again.  With Thanksgiving behind us, it is time to get shopping.  Whether you are searching for a little something for your daughter, sister, Mom, or best friend - or stuff to add to your own list- check my annual Organic Beauty Holiday Gift Guide.

The guide this year features my favorite new finds, plus some good old staples that will never leave my beauty kit. A few items on the list I have yet to review here on OBS, but trust me they are awesome! And please stay tuned as I will get around to writing reviews eventually.

RMS Beauty Living Luminizer   Honestly, I do not know how I have been living without this stuff, and now understand the gasp of surprise from one green beauty friend when she heard I had not yet tried this amazing product. It is not a shimmer, but more of a face brightener – seems to add light and luster to the skin. Use it to highlight your best features and create a softly diffused glow to your complexion in all the right spots. It seriously is amazing and at the top of my list for a reason.

*Now through Dec. 8th Spirit Beauty Lounge is offering OBS readers 10% off RMS Beauty Gift Set (includes RMS Beauty Liviing Luminizer, “Un” Cover-Up, Cream Eyeshadow, Lip 2 Cheek, & Coconut Cream). Use code OBS at checkout.*

RMS Beauty Raw Coconut Cream  This one may not seem like much of a gift at first glance, but I swear I want to give one to everyone on my list. It has become our family’s favorite all-purpose product. We use it on lips, face, hands, arms and legs, and it even takes off eye makeup. Everyone needs a jar of this stuff.

Rodin Olio Lusso  I have longed to try this facial oil since reading about its luxurious existence in Vogue. It lives up to my expectations and then some. A high quality facial oil can do wonders for the complexion, and I have tried many, but to date this one is by far my fave. Delicate, exquisite and smells divine. This one is definitely a splurge, so maybe put it on your list too. *wink*

Vapour Organic Beauty Elixir Lip Gloss in Hush   A girl’s love of lip gloss needs little explanation. This one is smooth, long lasting and that just right bubbly-tawny-pinkish shade that works with everything. Love it!

shu uemura Eyelash Curler   I know, we all know that shu uemura makes the best eyelash curler and blah, blah, blah. Heard it a hundred times, right? Well, I decided it was about time I found out why it is always heralded as the top of the line curler most loved by models, actresses and makeup artists, so I ordered myself one. And…yep, it is pretty much the bomb. Curls nice and gently but really gets a defined angle on even my gimpy little lashes. Threw my Revlon eyelash curler in the waste basket and never looked back.

Lavera Sunless Tanner   You’ve heard me say it before, I think that Lavera makes to best self tanner on the market, organic or otherwise. Looks natural, smells good, easy to apply, and doubles as a body lotion. And it is always nice to have a bit of glow. This product is appropriate any time of year.

Twitband Shoe Laces   Love, LOVE Twistband hair ties. These little beauties mean I can pull my hair back every day if I want to with absolutely no breakage. And they look so much cuter than ordinary hair ties. But did you know that they make shoe laces too? My daughter loves these because they spice up her tennis shoe and mean she never has to tie her shoes again. Always a perfect fit for the footwear finicky and, like the hair ties, they come in lots of cool colors.

RMS Beauty Coconut Cream -- Vaseline Alternative

~Resubmitted from my article on Feelgood Style~

A couple of weeks ago in my series on Cosmetic Ingredients to Avoid over at Feelgood Style I addressed petroleum. It is found in many conventional cosmetics and personal care products and is widely used, especially this time of year when we are dealing with dry skin issues.

But I think I have found its nontoxic equal. Recently a new beauty product popped up on my radar. RMS Beauty Raw Coconut Cream. It is only one ingredient, Coconut oil, but cold-pressed, ultra-pure virgin coconut oil extracted from fresh coconuts without the use of “high temperatures or solvents”.

Coconut oil is light weight but highly emollient and adds a protective layer to skin much like petroleum jelly…only without the nasty contaminants. It is also rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants, also unlike petroleum, and smells super yummy. That delicious scent is a super bonus in cold months.

Coconut oil is also cooling, making it a great treatment for irritated skin and conditions like eczema. So far in our home we have put this amazing product to many uses and are delighted at the outcome:

  • Takes off eye makeup in a snap
  • Toned down and lubed up the dry/irritated spots on my face
  • Took care of dry, rough knuckles super fast
  • Softened our dry lips
  • Healed my son’s shin-guard induced eczema

For use on face, body and even as a deodorant! Comes in a 2.5 ounce jar and since Coconut oil solidifies when cool, will last a very long time. At $18 a jar that is a very reasonable, all-purpose petroleum alternative. And like I said before, it’s nontoxic and smells like summer…

Face Off: Comparing Three Luxury Facial Oils

Over the past couple of weeks I have had the pleasure of testing three of the best luxury facial oils on the market. And while they are all superb, one really hit the mark.

The three are Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Facial Oil($140), Tata Harper Replenishing Nutrient Complex($45) and Patyka Absolis Huile Absolue Serum ($70). I had been wanting to try Olio Lusso for some time and was excited to finally get my hands on some. Likewise the Tata Harper.

Rodin Olio Lusso Facial Oil
First things first, let’s talk Olio Lusso. This divine oil combination smells softly of jasmine – its main ingredient. Thinking that may be too strong for sensitive skin? I was wary too, especially this time of year when my skin dries out and becomes ultra-sensitive. No worries, this oil is so gentle and hydrating that skin just drinks it up. I add a couple of drops to my facial moisturizer for added hydration and radiance. And, like all great facial oils, it goes on greasy-looking but soaks right in. Totally awesome and my favorite of the bunch. Probably because it is made with my favorite oils: sweet almond, apricot kernel, evening primrose, rose, and calendula. The cream of the crop. Rodin also makes a Lip Balm that I cannot wait to get my hands on.
Tata Harper Replenishing Nutrient Complex
Next up, Tata Harper Replenishing Nutrient Complex. This one is made with olive oil which, and I know I have mentioned this before, skin absolutely loves. It also contains a dab of carrot oil which lends glow to skin. The Tata Harper Complex is a definite close second and I do like to switch out between this and the Olio Lusso. Also lovely scented, the Tata Harper oil has such a light, delicate feel. Roll-on applicator is a unique touch and means you won’t be wasting any of this precious oil. Exquisite.

Patyka Absolis Huile Absolue Serum
I was not even aware of the Patyka Absolis Huile Absolue Serum until it came to me as a sample. This one is made with sesame oil which is very good for dry skin. It does have that luxurious quality, definitely a grade above your usual facial oil. The Patyka Serum is also touted as a frizz-tamer for hair and a cuticle softener, so you do get a little more bang for your buck. I liked this one too, but when stacked against Rodin or Tata, it placed third.

Facial oils are a very beneficial addition to your cold-weather skincare regimen. Used on their own or in combination with your usual moisturizer they really boost hydration, smooth the skin and keep it supple, and add a luminosity that is difficult to achieve in dry months.

These are luxury facial oils and come with luxury price tags. One thing to keep in mind: because you only use a few drops at a time, oils last and are a really good investment.

If you have questions on facial oils and how to use them please leave me a comment below and I will get back to you.

Organic Anti-Aging Skincare Review & Giveaway

Hope you had a festive Halloween!!

For November I have another great product line review and giveaway for you from Lavera MyAge Organic Anti-Aging Skin Care.

This unique all-natural line is packed with powerful anti-agers that are also absolutely natural and healthy. No synthetics or irritating ingredients.

The MyAge line is super gentle and suited to all skin types. These products are formulated to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles that you may already have, and protect against further damage.

So what are these super anti-aging wonder ingredients? Lavera uses plant-derived Hyaluronic acid to boost skin’s elasticity, natural Co-Enzyme Q10 to repair skin, White Tea extract prevent free radical damage, and Karanja Oil to protect against pigmentation.

The system includes several products to get skin looking radiant, healthy and youthful. MyAge Gentle Foaming Cleanser gets skin clean but manages to leave it soft and smooth – a delectable little puff of cleanser.

Next up, apply the MyAge Lifting Serum. Don’t you just love anything in a dropper bottle? Seems so intense and scientific. This serum is highly concentrated, so a little dab ‘ll do ya’. Thick, yet light and non-greasy, this treatment adds glow, lift and smooths the skin.

MyAge Day Cream seems to rejuvenate the skin, hydrating but not at all heavy. Of course MyAge has a Night Cream, Cooling Eye Roll-On and Eye Cream to complete the regimen.

Now for the giveaway I promised you…Lavera is giving one fortunate OBS reader a MyAge Serum ($49 value). To enter “like” Lavera’s Facebook page and subscribe to their newsletter, then come back here and leave me a comment telling your biggest skincare/anti-aging issue. One winner will be selected 30 days from today.
