Combination
Your Green Beauty Personal Program
Keep in mind that combination (oily in the T-zone) skin is different from oily skin and should be treated differently. First, determine whether your forehead, nose and chin are truly oily or if they just begin to shine a little throughout the day. If you are stripping the skin of its natural oil by over-cleansing and not using enough moisturizer, the skin will then produce even more oil in an attempt to self moisturize. Once the oil in the pores is oxidized it will look dark and give the appearance of clogged pores.
Cleanser
Try using a gently foaming cleanser, like Skin’s Lemon Aid Face Wash, that will provide a super clean feeling without being overly drying. The accompanying Lemon Fresh Toner will also help to keep skin fresh and clean, tighten pores and prepare skin for moisturizer.
Moisturizer
Dr. Hauschka and Weleda moisturizers are both great nontoxic lines with a variety of products to choose from. Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream Light and Weleda Wild Rose Moisture Cream will both provide light hydration without blocking pores.
Exfoliation
Exfoliation is key for all skin types in maintaining healthy, glowing skin. Be careful not to overdue it in an attempt to keep blemishes at bay, skin is never happy when it gets too much attention. Exfoliating twice weekly should be plenty, Skin’s Fruity Face Cleansing Scrub is a good one to try. You can use Green Tea Clay Mask by Evan Healy for very gentle exfoliation on the off days, if you like. It is gentle (won’t leave you red or irritated), absorbs and balances excess oil and draws out pimples and blackheads. It will also help to minimize large pores.
Treatment
A terrific home remedy for unruly skin is pure honey. Honey has natural healing and antibacterial properties and can be used as a face mask on its own. You can also mix with organic sugar and a bit of organic milk to create your own facial scrub, just be sure to massage in gently. Honey is also perfect to repair chapped, rough lips.Whether you are showing signs of aging or not it is never too early start prevention of premature aging. The absolute best thing you can do to maintain young, healthy looking skin is to eat a healthy organic diet. The less toxins you consume through foods and cosmetics the fewer lines and wrinkles you will see. Lots of pure filtered water is also essential in the good health of your skin and body. That said, there are some really great products out there effective at treating premature aging of the skin that also help to prevent further damage. Rosehip oil is a truly wonderful skincare treatment with many benefits. It helps to reduce breakouts, improve the appearance of lines, lighten sun spots and scars, and heal blemishes. Use at night on its own or under your moisturizer. It can even be dabbed around the eye area to reduce the appearance of fine lines and won’t travel into eyes. Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil is the cream of the crop.
Speaking of eyes, Lavere Ultimate Eye Cream truly is the ultimate in eye creams. It does come with a fairly hefty price tag but is well worth every cent, and since eye cream lasts a long time you won’t be purchasing this product as often as a cleanser or moisturizer. Use in the morning and use your rosehip oil at night.
Makeup
For makeup try Dr. Hauschka Toned Day Cream in place of your morning moisturizer, or bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation is a mineral foundation that provides sun protection and comes in a variety of shades. Nvey eco and Sukicolor are both nontoxic makeup lines with great reputations and a wide range of products.
Body
The most basic and cost effective body cleanser has to be Dr. Bronner’s. Comes in a variety of scents but Baby Super Mild Unscented Liquid tends to suit everyone, and you can buy a huge bottle that lasts forever for around $10.
